For Financial and Legal Advisors
The Foundation for Ellis Medicine nurtures a philanthropic environment that fosters stewardship, relationships and generosity in support of Ellis Medicine and its lifesaving role in our community.
Planned gifts such as bequests to Ellis can help your clients achieve their financial, philanthropic, and estate-planning goals, and qualify for sizable deductions in income, capital gains, and estate taxes. Call us - we want to help you make sure that your clients wishes are carried out as intended.
The official bequest language is: "I, give, devise, and bequeath [ XX% of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate] or [$XXXXX] to the Ellis Hopital Foundation, Inc., 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308, or its successor in interest, to be used for the provision of healthcare for the residents of Schenectady and Southern Saratoga counties, or for a closely related purpose as determined by the Board of The Foundation for Ellis Medicine or its successor in interest."
If your client’s intention is to leave a portion of his/her estate to support hospital healthcare in Schenectady, his/her will must state that the bequest will go to The Foundation for Ellis Medicine. The Foundation raises funds, including those left through estate planning, for acute care in Schenectady at all four campuses - Ellis Hospital, McClellan Street Health Center, Medical Center of Clifton Park and Bellevue Woman's Center. Your client may choose to restrict his/her bequest to the McClellan Street Health Center, or to any of the lifesaving programs provided by Ellis Medicine. Call us - we want to help you make sure that your clients wishes are carried out as intended.
