When it comes to breast cancer, early detection can make all the difference. That's why during the month of October, Ellis Medicine's annual Mammothon campaign continues to encourage women across the Capital Region to prioritize their breast health and schedule potentially lifesaving screenings.

Mammothon 2026—a partnership between Ellis, News10 ABC, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Care Center—is doing more than promoting annual mammograms. It's also showcasing how Ellis Medicine is expanding access to advanced breast care, with enhanced imaging now available at both Bellevue Woman's Center and the Medical Center of Clifton Park.  This expansion brings expert care and leading-edge technology closer to the communities we serve.

What makes Ellis Medicine's breast care center and program especially impactful is its ability to provide a seamless continuum of care. From advanced screening technologies such as 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI to advanced care through the Ellis at Roswell Park Comprehensive Care Network, patients have access to coordinated, high-quality care throughout their breast health journey without leaving the region. This integrated approach helps ensure women receive timely answers, personalized treatment plans, and ongoing support close to home.

“Too often, I see patients whose cancers might have been found sooner if they had access to regular screening,” said Dr. Tallat Mahmood, Ellis at Roswell Medical Director and oncologist. “Annual mammograms remain one of our most powerful tools for early detection. Combined with today’s advanced imaging technology, they help us find breast cancer earlier, when treatment is often more effective and outcomes are better. Early detection saves lives.”

The expansion of breast imaging services at the Medical Center of Clifton Park provides women with additional convenience and flexibility when scheduling screenings, helping reduce barriers that can prevent patients from staying current with their preventive care.

"Making advanced breast imaging available at more locations means more opportunities for women to get screened," said Jine Maroney, Director of Radiology. "The easier we make access to care, the more women we can reach, and that has a lasting impact on the health of our community."

Throughout October, Mammothon will take center stage across multiple platforms, helping spread the message of early detection to thousands of women throughout the region. Viewers can catch Mammothon stories and interviews on WTEN Channel 10, including segments on Upstate Living, news broadcasts, and a robust social media campaign featuring physicians, survivors, patient stories, educational content, and screening reminders.

These stories reinforce an important message: a mammogram takes only a few minutes, but it has the power to save a life.

Behind every Mammothon appointment is a dedicated team of physicians, technologists, nurses, schedulers, and support staff committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Together, they help ensure women have access to the latest technology, expert clinical care, and the support they need to take charge of their health.

As Ellis Medicine continues investing in advanced imaging technology and expanding access to breast health services, Mammothon serves as a powerful reminder that breast cancer screening remains one of the most important steps women can take to protect their long-term health.
