Nursing at Ellis Medicine

"What inspires me daily in my role at Ellis Medicine is the fact that no matter how the health care industry changes, or in our case, how the hospital system in Schenectady has changed so dramatically in recent years, our nursing staff never wavers from keeping the patient at the center of everything we do.

Throughout my 24 year nursing career, I've seen, firsthand, how nurses can make a significant impact on individual lives. The fact that nursing spans the continuum of life is the best example I can give. To be a nurse involved in bringing new life into this world as a baby takes his or her first breath, and conversely, to be involved in the dying process as a human being takes his or her last breath and exits this world, is an awe-inspiring experience. Nurses, individually and collectively, make up an incredibly powerful healing force!

At Ellis, we are proud of our nursing staff and work hard to ensure their clinical development and education, to recognize the contributions that nurses make at the bedside, and to involve our nurses in decisions related to patient/nursing care.
I hope that the nursing pages on this website can give you a glimpse of what Ellis Medicine has to offer nurses, and demonstrate that nursing is a great profession and is so much more than a job!"

-- CeCe Lynch, RN, MS, Vice President of Nursing & Chief Nursing Officer

"What's important to us at Ellis is professional development and continued education opportunities, employee recognition and a supportive management team that encourages autonomy and professionalism.

We give our nurses the tools they need to excel in their practice. It's a great time to work at Ellis Medicine."

-- Marie Hutchins, RN, Ellis Hospital Nurse Recruiter

"The Nursing Department at Ellis Medicine has a Shared Governance program that enables nurses to be more fully engaged in how they practice nursing and to be more involved in making decisions that affect their work.

As a 28-year veteran of the nursing profession, I can honestly say that Ellis is a wonderful place for a nurse to start, restart or further his/her nursing career."

-- Carla Wyllie, RN, Ellis Hospital Nursing Practice Director
