Entertainment Journalist Guiliana Rancic to Headline 2012 WNO
Giuliana Rancic is the anchor of E! News, co-star of E!’s hugely popular Fashion Police with Joan Rivers, and has a reality show, Giuliana & Bill, on the Style Network. Rancic, 37, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. At the podium, Rancic teaches women to focus on the positive and to use their attitude to help them manage their emotional pain. A pillar of strength, Rancic motivates audiences by opening up about her own battle with breast cancer, and encouraging women to take control of their health and futures. The Angina Dialogue: Women & Heart Disease
The 2012 Women's Night Out will include an informative educational session on women and heart disease featuring Dr. Kathy Magliato, a cardiothoracic surgeon and author of Heart Matters: a Memoir of a Female Heart Surgeon (2011) and Healing Hearts: a Memoir of a Female Heart Surgeon (2010).
This segment of the Women’s Night Out event, which will be held from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, gives audience members a chance to hear from healthcare experts and to ask questions of our panel.
Featured Speaker
Kathy Magliato, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Kathy Magliato is one of the few female cardiothoracic surgeons in the world. She is Director of Women’s Cardiac Surgical Services at Saint John’s Health Center, Santa Monica, CA. Receiving her initial medical training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, Magliato completed advanced training in cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplantation, and artificial heart devices at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI, Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. She is a well published researcher, a member of many professional societies, a recipient of numerous regional and national awards, a sought after lecturer and a passionate promoter of cardiac health for women.
Panel Members
Herbert Reich, M.D.
Dr. Herbert Reich is Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Ellis Medicine. Ellis is one of only three hospitals in the Capital Region authorized to perform cardiac surgery. Dr. Reich is a board certified surgeon who earned his medical degree from SUNY at Stony Brook, completed residency programs at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and Albany Medical Center, and he is Fellowship trained in cardiac surgery. He is a member of numerous professional medical societies including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American Medical Association. Dr. Reich specializes in coronary bypass surgery, heart valve repair and replacements, including minimally invasive procedures, as well as arterial bypass grafting and aortic surgery.
Andalib Nawab, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Dr. Andalib Nawab joined Cardiology Associates of Schenectady in August 2008 as a Cardiovascular Hospitalist. She earned her medical degree from Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan, and completed her internship and residency and a chief resident year at Blodgett Memorial Center (associated with Michigan State University), Grand Rapids, MI. Dr. Nawab also completed one year of cardiology internist experience at St. Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT. Dr. Nawab is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Geriatrics. She is a Fellow of the American Board of Geriatrics and a member of the Ellis Medicine medical staff.
